The Young Women in Harmony program teaches emerging voices the skills, joy and rewards of performing and singing four-part harmony, barbershop style. The program provides educational tools to teach young female singers how to sing and perform this American vocal music art form.

Are you a music educator? It’s easy to get started in the program. The Young Women in Harmony education packet contains comprehensive information for teaching young voices four-part harmony.

The education packet is complimentary, and includes the following tools:

  • Video Tape – A short presentation by choruses, quartets and teachers who incorporate barbershop music into their school curriculum.

  • Educator’s Guide – This guide includes teaching instructions and performance suggestions for each song. Each music selection is voiced for young singers. The guide includes songs like Battle Hymn of the Republic, Happy Birthday, Rock Around the Clock, the Star Spangled Banner and more.

  • Learning CD’s – Four-part learning CD’s for all the music in the songbook.

To receive your complimentary education packet or for more information on the Young Women in Harmony program in general, visit the Sweet Adelines International YWIH website, contact Sweet Adelines International Headquarters at 1-800-99 SING or e-mail education@sweetadelineintl.org.

You will need this form if you are coordinating YWIH events. Make sure that you collect completed forms from each student attending an event, and keep copies on file for your records. The goal is to avoid any issues, but if/when they arise, we will have the piece of mind that the proper steps were taken in advance. Be sure you collect filled forms from each student, and keep the forms.
